Prefer to use the softphone only? Good news: no hardware cost at all. Thorne Connect works brilliantly on any Windows PC, Mac, iPhone or Android phone. Desk phones are optional, not required.

IVR (Interactive Voice Response) is the 'press 1 for sales, 2 for support' menu callers hear. It routes them to the right department automatically. On the Base tier (£19.99) IVR is an optional £4.99 add-on. On Pro and Call Centre tiers it is bundled in. If you want a professional-sounding menu, you want IVR.

Yes. We handle number porting (moving your existing number to us), creating new numbers, or ceasing old ones. Most ports take 10 to 15 working days and happen with zero disruption if we plan it properly. We have ported hundreds of South Wales business numbers.
First DDI (Direct Dial-In number) is £29.99 setup, additional DDIs are £14.99 setup. Memorable or premium geographic numbers are £199.99 setup. These are one-off fees. Ongoing rental is covered by your licence. Porting your existing number from another provider is included at no extra cost.
30 days retention is included on every licence. If you need longer: 6 months is +£6 per licence per month, 12 months is +£9 per licence per month, 7 years (common for regulated industries) is +£15 per licence per month. We set this up per licence so only the people who need long retention pay for it.
Yes. Thorne Connect integrates with Microsoft Teams so your team can make and receive business calls from inside Teams. You get the same softphone features, same number, same billing. Note: using Thorne Connect through Teams also requires a Microsoft Teams Phone licence (~£7.70 per user per month from Microsoft). You can buy this direct from Microsoft or we can resell it to you as part of your Thorne Connect bill.
The old analogue phone network (PSTN) is being switched off by January 2027. ISDN lines are already being withdrawn. If you are still on a traditional line you need to move to VoIP before then. Leaving it to late 2026 is risky because everyone will be switching at once and install slots get scarce.
Most businesses are fine with softphones. If you want desk phones we supply Yealink T7X series: T73U (£79.99), T74U (£119.99), or T85W executive touchscreen (£159.99), all plus VAT. One-off cost, we pre-configure them before they ship.
If your internet is down your softphone cannot make calls, same as any VoIP system. But calls to your number automatically divert to a mobile you choose, so you never miss a call. For businesses where uptime matters we fit 4G failover so the phones keep working even if broadband dies.
